WASHINGTON — Election results are still being counted in Benton and Franklin counties, where several school district levies have been on the ballot.
In Benton County, both levies for the Kennewick School District are currently receiving about 55% approval. The first levy focuses on educational programs and operations, funding daily operations such as student support, extracurricular activities and staffing. The second levy addresses safety, security and information technology, with an emphasis on cybersecurity upgrades.
The Richland School District also has two levies, with both receiving 53% approval. These levies are similar to Kennewick’s, with one supporting educational programs and operations and the other funding capital projects and technology, including classroom technology and cybersecurity.
In Franklin County, the Pasco School District is proposing a continuation of an educational programs and operations levy. As of 2:00 p.m. on February 10, 51% of voters have opposed this levy.
Beyond the school levies, the city of Pasco is seeking to annex into the Mid-Columbia Library. Voters are currently showing strong support for this initiative, with 60% voting in favor.
