KENNEWICK, Wash. – Ben Franklin Transit is updating its bus routes in the Tri-Cities to enhance efficiency and reduce travel time. The changes will begin this weekend, aiming to provide smoother commutes for residents.
Brittany Archibald, the Community Relations and Social Media Manager for Ben Franklin Transit, emphasized that these updates have been in the works for years. “We will provide direct service to the Tri-Cities airport and CBC,” she stated.
The updates come in response to the growth of the Tri-Cities airport. Archibald explained that the decision to extend routes is based on rider demand. “If we’re seeing a lot of riders boarding in a certain area at a certain time, we know that we need more service there,” she said.
One of the significant changes includes reducing travel time from Richland to east Kennewick. The trip, which currently takes close to an hour, is expected to be cut down to under 30 minutes. “We hope the express routes will really encourage people to view transit as an option,” Archibald added.
Ben Franklin Transit announced that these route changes will take effect on June 15. For more information on the changes, click here.
