RICHLAND, Wash. – Richland’s REACH Museum has received a $10,000 sponsorship from Bechtel to make school field trips more accessible for students from underserved communities.
This funding will help cover costs, ensuring all students can experience hands-on learning at the museum, according to a museum release.
“We want every student to have the chance to explore the history, science, and environment of the Mid-Columbia region,” Pauline Schafer, Education Manager at the REACH Museum said.
The REACH Museum’s field trip program offers guided and self-guided experiences for K-12 students. Educator-led tours include hands-on activities on topics such as the Columbia River’s resources and the history of the Hanford Site. Schools can also choose self-guided visits, with resources to help students connect with the exhibits.
“Supporting organizations like the REACH Museum is part of our commitment to give back to this great community.” Brian Hartman, Bechtel Senior Vice President, stated.
Guided field trips typically cost $210 per class, while self-guided visits are $5 per student. With Bechtel’s support, schools needing financial assistance can apply for subsidies.
Teachers interested in scheduling a field trip or applying for assistance can contact the Education Manager at paulines@visitthereach.us or 509-943-4100 ext. 113. For more details, visit the REACH Museum’s website.
