Apartment fire in Richland prompts evacuation

RICHLAND, Wash. – Multiple fire departments responded to an apartment complex fire on Friday morning.

Richland Battalion Chief Brenda Rogers reported that the fire was first noticed just after 11 a.m. A maintenance worker observed smoke and called 911, leading to a swift response from fire crews.

When crews arrived at the scene, they discovered an empty apartment with lit candles, which were quickly extinguished. The entire building was evacuated as a precautionary measure.

No one was injuries were reported from the incident, however, the affected apartment sustained minor damage.
