Creators and stars Michael Cusack and Zach Hadel have announced that two unreleased episodes of their show, “Smiling Friends,” will air in April on Adult Swim before the series comes to a close.
This comes despite previous reports from media outlets last year indicating that the series had been renewed for seasons 4 and 5.
The showrunners revealed the news in a video posted to Adult Swim’s X account.
Hadel explained one of the reasons behind the decision, stating it was better to leave the audience wanting more.
Cusack noted the possibility of returning in the future to create more episodes if they choose to, but emphasized that this is not guaranteed.
Cusack and Hadel described the two episodes set for release in the spring as more like bonuses rather than a finale.
