PASCO, Wash. – The Pasco School District’s School Board held a special meeting on Thursday night to discuss the next steps after the district’s Educational Programs and Operations Replacement Levy fell short by 59 votes in the 2026 special elections.
An early agreement has been reached to re-run the levy in April unless an alternative option is decided next week.
The levy was intended to fund staffing, athletics, school safety and other operations, accounting for about 10% of the district’s budget. Additionally, the renewal levy aimed to bridge “the gap between what the state funds and what it actually costs to operate Pasco schools.”
Without the levy funds, local schools may face significant budget cuts and miss out on additional state funding.
