Amazon surpasses Walmart as top global company in sales

Amazon has overtaken Walmart to become the world’s largest company in terms of sales.

In 2025, Amazon posted $717 billion in sales, surpassing Walmart’s $713 billion. Walmart had held the title of the largest company globally for more than a decade.

While both are retail giants, Amazon’s growth in cloud computing and advertising contributed significantly to its lead.

Despite Amazon’s rise, Walmart’s business in the United States continues to surge. Middle-class and upper-income households are increasingly turning to Walmart to save money.
