West Richland fire station touts cuts in response times since reopening

WEST RICHLAND, Wash. – Since Station 410 in West Richland reopened last summer in Benton County, Fire District 4 announced it’s seen notable improvements.

Data shows that the average response time to calls has dropped by more than a minute.

Fire crews have noted that faster arrivals have also reduced the workload on other stations and improved overall reliability across the district.

These improvements come at a time when District 4 is facing growing demand and rising operational costs.

The results are being used by the Board of Fire Commissioners to determine whether to maintain current staffing and service levels district-wide for the future.

The board may consider asking voters to approve a fire levy lid lift in 2026, although no decision has been made yet.
