The mother-in-law of the man detained in connection with Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance is speaking out as investigators search her home.
“I told them – you can go in and search my house. There’s nobody there,” the woman said. “I have nothing to hide. There’s nobody in my house.”
The woman told News Nation that the search of her home led to the FBI taking all of her electronic devices. She firmly believes her son-in-law is not involved.
“They’re investigating my son in law. He has nothing to do with that either,” she said.
At this time, it is unclear if the detained man is the same person seen in the doorbell footage released earlier on Tuesday. The man was reportedly detained during a traffic stop in an area south of Tucson on Tuesday evening.
Recently, NBC News reported that a court-ordered search is underway in Rio Rico, about 60 miles south of Tucson near the U.S.-Mexico border.
New footage shows a gray SUV surrounded by at least eight police cars. Investigators are seen wearing gloves as they search the area. The search is expected to continue late into the night.
Currently, what investigators are searching for remains unknown.
