KENNEWICK, Wash. – Members of the Kennewick Association of Educational Support Personnel (KAESP) and the Kennewick Education Association (KEA) will gather on Thursday, February 5, to rally support for the Kennewick School District’s replacement levies.

The sign-waving event will be held along Columbia Center Boulevard and Rio Grande Avenue from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Participants will encourage voters to support the two replacement levies that fund essential educational services and operations across the district.

“These replacement levies are critical to sustaining learning opportunities, safety and day-to-day operations in our schools,” said KAESP Co-President Piper Burris.

KEA President Melissa Schneider emphasized the importance of the levies. “Supporting the levies means ensuring all students have equitable access to high-quality education,” she said.

The levies support student learning, safety, security and information technology. They also fund classified staff positions including secretaries, paraeducators and maintenance staff.

If approved, the levies will qualify the district for additional Local Effort Assistance funding from the state, bringing more resources to local schools.

Community members are encouraged to participate in the election on February 10, 2026.
