PORT OF BENTON, Wash. – The Port of Benton is undergoing significant changes following the firing of Alicia Myers, the chief financial officer and auditor. According to a report, the commissioners cited poor performance as the reason for her termination.

Commissioner O’Neil stated during the meeting, “I, Commissioner O’Neil, move that this commission directs the interim executive director to terminate the chief financial officer per ‘Resolution 26-04 personnel, policies and procedures,'” as the gavel struck.

The decision comes after a series of meetings addressing various issues at the port. On January 14, the commission discussed complaints against current Port Commissioner Scott Keller. Later, on January 28, the public raised concerns regarding the findings of Keller’s investigation and questioned the status of former Executive Director Diahann Howard, who was placed on paid administrative leave. Commissioners have not provided additional information on these matters.

In the wake of Myers’ departure, the port’s senior accountant has been appointed as the interim auditor.
