YAKIMA COUNTY, Wash. — The Yakima County Sheriff’s Office, along with several agencies, has thwarted a burglary ring, recovering more than $100,000 worth of stolen items. The recovered items include equipment from the Mason County Fire District.
Two suspects from the Yakima area were arrested. One of the suspects is a 15-time convicted felon, with prior history of burglary.
Some of the stolen property dates back to 2021. The Yakima County Sheriff’s Office said an anonymous source provided crucial information about the burglaries and the suspects, leading to the arrests.
Deputies received calls about burglaries and thefts in October 2025, primarily in the White Pass and Chinook Pass areas. The case was handed over to the ProAct Team, which utilized the information from the anonymous source.
“They continued to investigate and ask questions, and they realized they figured out who the persons were that were responsible for the burglaries. Issued some search warrants and were able to catch the people and collect a lot of the evidence,” said Public Information Officer Casey Schilerperoort.
The Sheriff’s Office released photos showing the evidence collected. Two search warrants were executed at a storage unit facility near 16th Ave and Washington and a residential home near the 1200 block on E Spruce St. Schilperoort said items were stolen from three separate counties.
“Make sure you lock your doors. [The victims] They live out in the county and [might think] nobody bothers them, but there’s always somebody paying attention or just kind of looking around. Lock your shops, don’t leave keys in your vehicles. Don’t leave firearms in your vehicles. Don’t leave anything of interest for burglars to want to steal,” said Schilperoort.
Nearly two dozen guns and a large amount of processed marijuana were among the stolen items. Schilperoort stated the intent of using these items has not yet been determined.
“We are fortunate that we were able to arrest these people for burglarizing. And, you know, people around here in Yakima County and other counties were also affected. So, it’ll be nice that we’ll be able to get some of this property back to them,” Schilperoort said.
The Sheriff’s Office is urging those who believe they may have been victims of this burglary string to call Deputies Cagle or Wilkinson at 509-574-2500 ext. 0, to schedule a time to view and possibly identify items.
