KITTITAS COUNTY, Wash. — The Kittitas County Public Health Department (KCPHD) announced that they have concluded their active response to the recent measles case identified in the county last month. All individuals who were monitored have completed their quarantine, and no new symptoms have been reported.
KCPHD has also closed the measles call center. The department expressed gratitude to Central Washington University, Kittitas Valley Healthcare, and others for their support during the response.
Kate Johnson, Communicable Disease Manager, emphasized the importance of checking vaccination records. “We encourage everyone to check for their vaccination records and ensure they are up to date,” said Johnson.
Vaccinations are crucial in preventing diseases like measles. Johnson noted that those up to date with vaccines and have records are exempt from quarantine if exposed to measles.
Residents are advised to verify their vaccination records through their medical provider or the Washington State Immunization Registry at MyIRMobile. For those unable to locate their records, discussing next steps with a medical provider is recommended.
For more information on recommended immunization schedules, visit the American Academy of Pediatrics or the Washington State Department of Health’s website for details on vaccines. Vaccinations are available at doctor’s offices, pharmacies, and KCPHD for childhood vaccines. For scheduling or inquiries, contact KCPHD at 509-962-7515.
