Harrisburg, Pa. — State Rep. Jamie Flick, who represents Lycoming and Union Counties, was among a group of Republicans who met U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. at the Pa. Capitol. The Capitol was the first visit on RFK Jr.’s national “Eat Real Food” tour.

“I was on hand to join Secretary Kennedy in promoting healthier eating habits and raising awareness about the importance of eating real, nutritious food for families across Pennsylvania, Flick said. “Growing up on a farm, I learned firsthand the value of fresh, wholesome food. This initiative reminds us that healthy eating starts with real ingredients, and I’m proud to support efforts that make nutritious choices accessible for families across Pennsylvania.”

The gathering touched upon several nutrition-related topics including SNAP, school lunch options, and the recent dramatic overhaul of the food pyramid.

“During his remarks, Secretary Kennedy talked about the impact poor nutrition and processed food have on children, contributing to rising rates of diabetes, obesity, and other health problems. As a member of Pennsylvania House Children and Youth Committee, I’m dedicated to supporting initiatives that strengthen families and promote access to real, nutritious food across our communities,” Flick continued. “I supported the Whole Milk in Schools legislation, which restores flexibility for schools to offer whole milk and other options, benefiting both students and Pennsylvania’s dairy farmers. Looking ahead, I will continue advocating for policies that empower families and strengthen Pennsylvania’s agricultural economy.”

Secretary Kennedy also discussed healthcare costs, ultra-processed foods and their ties to chronic illness, and an upcoming study of contaminants in baby formula.
