YAKIMA, Wash. – Aqua Tequilas, a restaurant and bar on North 1st Street in Yakima, caught fire on Monday night. The building was deemed a total loss.
According to Yakima Fire Department Battalion Chief Mike Wagner, the fire was reported at around 11:00 p.m. When crews arrived, they found the building “well involved,” meaning high fire intensity and flames spread through the majority of the building.
Firefighters struggled to contain the fire as the building was structurally compromised, Wagner said.
A second alarm was called and crews worked overnight to extinguish the flames.
No one was inside the building at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported.
“We are so heartbroken,” Agua Tequilas’ ownership said in a statement. “As a small family business we are devastated by the news. It was always my parents dream to own and operate a restaurant with family and to share our family recipes to our beloved Yakima community.”
North 1st Street was temporarily closed as fire crews were on scene, but has since been reopened.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
