YAKIMA, Wash. – An officer with the Yakima Police Department (YPD) was involved in a crash on Saturday morning while responding to a burglary suspect.
The suspect reportedly barricaded themselves in a bathroom, prompting calls to YPD.
On the way to the scene, an officer improperly negotiated an intersection, leading to a collision with another car. The other driver involved in the crash was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
YPD officials reported that the officer was not injured in the incident.
Despite efforts to reach the scene, the burglary suspect managed to evade law enforcement.
