KENNEWICK, Wash. – A single-car crash at the intersection of West Canal Drive and North Volland Street on Saturday night temporarily damaged traffic signals and rendered them non-operational.
According to the Kennewick Police Department, the crash occurred at around 11:40 p.m. The driver was arrested for DUI.
“Due to damage from the collision, the traffic signals are currently non-operational,” KPD said in a social media post on Sunday morning. Temporary stop signs have been placed in all directions. Motorists must treat this location as a four-way stop and proceed with caution.”
KPD also urged drivers to avoid the area if possible to reduce traffic.
“With the upcoming holiday season, we remind everyone to drive sober and plan ahead,” KPD said. “If you choose to drink, arrange for a designated driver, rideshare, or other safe transportation. Impaired driving puts lives at risk.”
