
KITTITAS COUNTY, Wash. – As heavy rainfall moves across the region this week, flood watches are in place in the Yakima and Kittitas valleys as well as the upper and lower east slopes of the Cascades through Friday. In Kittitas and Yakima counties, residents can pick up free sandbags at certain locations.
The Kittitas County Sheriff’s Office shared a post on social media with available locations for sandbag pickup. According to the agency, flooding has already impacted homes in the Elk Meadows area, Teanaway Valley, Salmon La Sac and Thorp.
According to KCSO, sand and unfilled bags are available at county fire stations 73, 75, and 11. Shovels will be available.
In Yakima County, Yakima Valley Emergency Management shared a list of the locations with sandbag pickup available.
