Warrant arrest leads to recovery of stolen moped in Benton County

BENTON COUNTY, Wash. – The Benton County Sheriff’s Office reported the arrest of Jaclyn Israel-Peterson and the recovery of a stolen moped following a warrant operation near Benton City.

On December 6, 2025, deputies, with help from the West Richland Police Department, arrived at a location in unincorporated Benton County to apprehend two wanted individuals. While Israel-Peterson was detained, Kyle Vanhalteren, 35, managed to escape.

The next day, deputies returned to the location and discovered that Vanhalteren had returned and later traveled to a residence in Richland. During the follow-up, deputies also located a stolen moped.

With assistance from the Richland Police Department, deputies found Vanhalteren hiding in a Richland basement. He was taken into custody on outstanding warrants and may face additional charges related to the stolen property.
