
PASCO, Wash. – Police in Pasco are urging the community to stop drinking and driving after a series of DUI incidents over the past week.
On Halloween night, a young driver with a blood alcohol content well above the legal limit drove in the wrong lane on N 4th Ave. The vehicle struck another car filled with people. Fortunately, no one was seriously injured.
On November 1, concerned citizens alerted authorities to a man passed out in a vehicle at a Walgreens parking lot. When officers arrived, the man drove off but was soon stopped and arrested for DUI.
Later that night, another traffic stop in the area of Road 68 and Chapel Hill led to an arrest for DUI. Around the same time, an officer stopped another driver at 5th/Court, resulting in another DUI arrest.
On November 2, officers responded to a report of a man leaving a location off of Road 68 after consuming alcohol. A veteran officer stopped the vehicle just south of the Blue Bridge in Kennewick, leading to another DUI arrest.
Later that day, a traffic stop in the roundabout area on N 4th resulted in another DUI arrest.
On November 4, a driver on 20th drove onto a sidewalk, struck a fence, and fled the scene. The driver was caught and arrested for hit and run and DUI. Another incident involved a vehicle vs. semi collision, with the driver of the car arrested for DUI.
Police emphasize the importance of choosing safe alternatives such as taxis or rideshares to prevent these incidents. They continue to stress the message, “Stop drinking and driving.”
