KENNEWICK, Wash. – Hubby’s Pizza in Kennewick is back in business after an unexpected closure. The pizzeria had to shut its doors temporarily after a stolen car crashed into the restaurant early yesterday morning around 3 a.m.
Police reported that suspects attempted to steal cash from an ATM inside the building but were unsuccessful. They abandoned one stolen car in the parking lot and fled in another, which was later found burning three blocks away.
Despite the chaos, the team at Hubby’s Pizza quickly resumed operations. Customers were seen coming in and out throughout the day, showing strong support for the local business.
Jayln Brasher, a cook at Hubby’s Pizza, expressed appreciation for the community’s response.
“I feel like it was just a senseless act. It’s nice seeing a lot of people come together and do stuff for this business, you know? Our owners here do a lot for us and keep us working. And our customers are really nice. They like to talk to us and hang out here, have birthday parties here, bring their teams here. So it’s really nice,” Brasher said.
Currently, part of the restaurant lobby is blocked off to keep customers away from the damage. However, the pizzeria continues to serve its patrons.
Hubby’s Pizza is open until 9 p.m. Saturday evening for those looking to grab a bite.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing. Anyone with information that could assist the police is encouraged to contact the Kennewick Police Department at (509)-628-0333.
