PASCO, Wash. – Families in Pasco had the opportunity to explore a variety of vehicles and equipment used by first responders at the Pasco Aviation Museum. The event, part of the museum’s 2nd Annual First Responders Day, aimed to honor the work of first responders.

Malin Bergstrom, a volunteer board director for the museum, explained the importance of recognizing first responders.

“I don’t know if they get enough credit for what they do,” Bergstrom said. “And so we want to make sure that they are thanked, more than just once a year, hopefully. And let the public know the importance of having first responders, nobody wants to have an emergency and not have somebody respond.”

The event showcased a range of vehicles and aircraft, both new and antique. Attendees could see a LifeFlight helicopter, a restored Franklin County fire truck from the 1950s, and a Pasco Police Department Harley-Davidson motorcycle from the same era. Additionally, an active ARF truck, which stands for airport rescue and firefighting, was on display.

Bergstrom highlighted the role of volunteers in making the event possible.

“The only way that the Pasco Aviation Museum exists and is able to have events like this is because of our volunteers,” Bergstrom stated. “It is a 100% volunteer operated museum…It just astounds me every day how great the community has stepped forward, and helped out with the museum.”

Bergstrom mentioned plans to hold this event again next year around the same time, encouraging those who missed it to mark their calendars.
