KENNEWICK, Wash. – Shelley Hawkins, a registered nurse at Trios Health, received The DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses. Hawkins has been with Trios Health since 2010 and works in the Birth Center.
Lori Katterhagen, Trios Chief Nursing Officer, emphasized Hawkins’ dedication, saying, “Shelley is well-deserving of this honor. She is a great example to all of her co-workers and strives to treat her patients and their families with respect, dignity, and kindness.”
Hawkins was nominated by a patient who shared a heartfelt story of Hawkins’ care during a difficult time. The patient noted, “Shelley was a light on one of the worst days of my life. I hope to see her again. I’ll never forget her.”
The DAISY Award® was created in memory of J. Patrick Barnes to honor nurses for their exceptional care. Nominations for nurses can be made online.
