PASCO, Wash. – The Tri-Cities Area Gaming Club concluded its third annual board game convention, TAGCON, at the HAPO Center in Pasco. The event wrapped up Sunday, drawing over 200 attendees for a weekend of games and community engagement.
TAGCON provided a platform for players to enjoy a wide array of board games, tournaments, and interactive activities. Jacob Kestner, Director of Outreach for the club, shared insights into the convention’s goals.
“We just try to build community, bring people out of their house and give them a safe place to just interact with each other and play board games,” he said.
Kestner emphasized the club’s focus on creating a welcoming environment, steering clear of topics like politics and religion.
“A big part of our mission is to make sure that, if you come to our organizations, you come to our events, you feel comfortable, you feel safe,” he stated.
The event featured more than just board games. Kestner highlighted additional activities.
“It’s not just board gaming. We do all kinds of stuff. We’ve got a mini painting station, we’ve got two VR rooms, we’ve got an audio-visual room, we’ve got our quiet room, which everyone really appreciates,” he said.
Reflecting on this year’s convention, Kestner noted its success.
“I feel like we’ve, we’ve touched the community more this year. I think from a monetary standpoint, we’ve made more money,” he said. He expressed optimism for the future, adding, “I think this has been the best con that we’ve thrown so far.”
The Tri-Cities Area Gaming Club hosts over 100 events and meetings annually. More information is available on their website.
