PASCO, Wash. – A year-long celebration marking the 100th anniversary of the first commercial airmail flight in the United States will be held at the Pasco Aviation Museum on Monday, April 7, a Pasco Chamber of Commerce release said.
The flight, piloted by Leon Cuddeback, chief pilot for Varney Airlines, departed the original Pasco Airport near today’s Orion High School on April 6, 1926.
The celebration kicks off with a press conference at 11:00 a.m. Attendees can enter through Bergstrom Aircraft at 4102 N Stearman Ave.
Museum Board President Malin Bergstrom will discuss the history of this significant flight, while Nathan Hall, the committee chair, will outline upcoming commemorative events. Pasco Mayor Pete Serrano will conclude the event, the release added.
