YAKIMA, Wash. – Jeremie Dufault, a Republican and current State Representative for Washington’s 15th District, has announced his candidacy for the district’s Senate seat in the upcoming election.

Dufault expressed his dedication to his community, stating, “I want to continue representing my lifelong friends and neighbors. I think I can be a good advocate in the Senate for our shared values.”

During his six-year tenure in the Legislature, Dufault has been involved in several initiatives. He has worked to prevent property tax increases and a proposed state income tax. Additionally, he collaborated on creating the Purple Heart license plate program and expanding housing and medical services for homeless veterans. Dufault also sponsored legislation to improve mental health care in Yakima County.

Dufault, 46, is recognized as one of the most conservative members of the House of Representatives by the Conservative Political Action Committee. He is a real estate developer and serves as a lieutenant colonel in the United States Army Reserve with service in Kuwait and Afghanistan.

His family has longstanding roots in the Yakima Valley and Prosser, having lived and farmed in the area since before World War II. He is an alumnus of Davis High School, the University of Pennsylvania, and Harvard Law School.

The 15th District, whose boundaries were altered by a federal judge in 2024, now includes areas from Prosser through Zillah, Terrace Heights, Selah, and west Yakima.

Dufault’s candidacy has received endorsements from Rep. Chris Corry, the other 15th District House member, and Yakima Deputy Mayor Matt Brown.
