19-year-old who fled after arrest attempt was found

BENTON COUNTY, Wash.–UPDATE 10:32 A.M.:

Deputies received a report of a man matching the 19-year-old’s description in Finley this morning, according to BCSO. K9 units were dispatched and helped deputies locate the man.

He was taken into custody and is now booked in the Benton County Jail, according to BCSO.

A 19-year-old man fled after a traffic stop where officers attempted to arrest him.

Deputies pulled over a car driving without headlights on SR 397 and Bowles Road, and while speaking with the woman driving the car, they recognized the 19-year-old passenger, who had multiple warrants for his arrest, according to the Benton County Sheriff’s Office. When asked to step out of the car, he jumped on the driver, put the car in gear and fled at a high speed.

The 19-year-old took a dead-end private road in Finley and continued to flee on foot, leaving the driver in the car, according to BCSO. Deputies found a pistol on the floor of the car when he ran off as well.

Officers found probably cause for charges against the 19-year-old, on top of his existing warrants, including attempt to elude, kidnapping and unlawful possession of firearms, according to BCSO. Information on his location can be directed to (509) 628-0333.
