KENNEWICK, Wash. – A local nonprofit, Columbia Ability Alliance, is partnering with Ice Harbor Brewing Company for a special event, raising funds and awareness.
The event is scheduled for tonight, Monday, March 24, from 4:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The main location is the Ice Harbor Brewery at 10 E. Bruneau, but their other two locations at Clover Island and their pub on Benton Street will also feature specials that will kick back to the non-profit.
Michael Novakovich from Columbia Ability Alliance shared insights about the organization’s efforts. “We work with individuals with disabilities and other life barriers,” he said. “One of the things we do is we work with area businesses on employment opportunities. So we’ll help our clients job search, resume writing, mock interviews, and skills development.”
The event will feature a special label for the brewery’s IPA. Logan Cann, the general manager at Ice Harbor Brewing Co., shared the significance of this collaboration, stating that the Alliance has been important to the owner, Mike, as they have hired staff through this organization.
The collaboration with local businesses like Ice Harbor is essential for creating job opportunities for their clients, Novakovich emphasized. “As area employers like Ice Harbor open their doors for employment opportunities, many of our clients have opportunities for independent living, so it’s a great deal. It’s a win-win,” he said.
For those interested in supporting the cause, more information is available on the event’s Facebook page. Additionally, they have an upcoming fundraiser in May that promises to be significant, featuring a star chef from Seattle.
This event is an opportunity for community members to support a meaningful cause while enjoying the offerings of a local brewery.
