BENTON COUNTY, Wash.–A woman who was allegedly high on narcotics drove into another person’s truck during a child custody incident this morning.

The woman used a rock to break a windshield, causing damage to the truck, before barricading herself in the car with an eight-year-old and one-year-old with her, according to the Benton County Sheriff’s Office. Sheriffs pinned the car in place to avoid further risk for the children.

Sheriffs negotiated for 24 minutes with the woman until she lowered one of the back windows, allowing the children to get out, according to BCSO. Once the two children were safe, sheriffs entered the car and arrested the woman for multiple crimes.

The children were not harmed during the incident, according to BCSO.

Soon after, sheriffs responded to an alleged domestic violence assault where a man was reported to have been physical with his wife after drinking, according to BCSO.

Sheriffs entered the bedroom, where the two were on the bed, according to BCSO. The man was not compliant at first and hid his arm under his wife, but was eventually placed into custody.

Because of his intoxication levels, the man was taken to be cleared at a hospital before being put in custody, according to BCSO. The woman was provided with resources to help with her situation.
