HANFORD, Wash. – The Safeguards and Security team at Hanford is taking steps to ensure both information security and environmental protection.
In a recent collaboration with the Warehouse & Property Management team, Hanford Mission Integration Solutions (HMIS) said the Safeguards and Security team transported about 11,000 pounds of sensitive materials such as hard media like CDs and DVDs to Spokane’s Waste to Energy Facility for incineration.
This disposal method aligns with the Department of Energy’s security requirements while supporting Hanford’s environmental goals by generating electricity, HMIS said.
