
BENTON COUNTY, Wash. – It was not the outcome proponents of certain funding measures had hoped for from the February 11 Special Election in Benton County.
Following last night’s tally of about 10,500 votes, all four measures on the Benton County ballot are failing.
Proposition One to fund a performing arts center with a 0.2% sales tax is getting only 37% of the vote with 63% voting no.
Three levy measures for the Finley and Kiona-Benton School Districts are also failing:
Kiona-Benton City School District Prop. 1 – 47% Yes/53% NoFinley School District 53 Prop. 1 – 40% Yes/60% NoFinley School District 53 Prop. 2 – 43% Yes/57% No
Elsewhere, voters in Yakima County are getting behind Proposition One, a replacement levy for the Toppenish School District:
Toppenish School District Prop. 1 – 65% Yes/35% No
In Walla County, all four funding measures on the ballot for school districts are passing:
Touchet School District Prop. 1 – 56% Yes/44% NoPrescott School District Prop. 1 – 51% Yes/49% NoPrescott School District Prop. 2 – 52% Yes/48% NoPrescott School District Prop. 3 – 60% Yes/40% No
And across Kittitas County, three funding measures for school districts are on their way to passing.
Damman School District Replacement Levy – 71% Yes/29% NoThorp School District Levy – 57% Yes/43% NoCle Elum-Roslyn School District – 60% Yes/40% No
The next count of ballots in Benton, Yakima, Walla and Kittitas County will take place February 13.
