PASCO, Wash – The Tri-Cities Diversity and Inclusion Council hosted their fifth annual MLK drive-in and walk-in food distribution at Columbia Center College.
Held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., volunteers gathered in the college’s parking lot, distributing groceries and essential items to those in need.
The event highlight’s the TCD&AI’s efforts to help the community on Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
CEO of the Tri-Cities Diversity and Inclusion Council, Naima Chambers, says their organization aims to help those who need it the most.
“We prioritize most of our programs to serve those that are under-resourced and underserved within our community members,” said Chambers.
According to Chambers, the event saw lines of cars waiting in line as early as 7:30 a.m. to collect the food handouts. Cars still lingered, collecting frozen turkeys and other groceries even after the 12:00 p.m. event ended.
Included in the handouts were foods, toiletries, gift cards and personal care items.
Chambers said the goal was to help around 2,000 families through the event. According to Chambers, the Tri-Cities Diversity & Inclusion Council is continuously seeking volunteers for community events and encourages people to visit their website. There, you can learn more about their organization, volunteer to help, and donate.
